Our Commitment to You
These Terms are the other half of the promise we make in our Privacy Policy. That document is about what we do with your data; this one is about what you and Nagrik each agree to when you use the app — posting a classified, listing your shop, reporting a broken streetlight, or asking about your day ahead. We've tried to write it the way we'd actually explain it to a neighbour: plainly, and without hiding the parts that protect us behind the parts that sound nice. Where a clause exists mainly to protect Nagrik legally, we've said so rather than dressing it up as being for your benefit.
1. Acceptance of Terms
This Terms of Use Agreement (“Agreement” or “Terms”) is a legally binding contract between you (“User,” “you,” or “your”) and Nagrik Media Limited (“Nagrik,” “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), governing your access to and use of NagrikTV.com, the Nagrik mobile applications for Android and iOS, and all related content, features, and services (together, the “Services”).
By creating an account, browsing the Website, downloading or using the Apps, or otherwise accessing the Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you do not agree, you must not access or use the Services.
We may modify these Terms at any time to reflect changes in our Services or applicable law. Material changes will be notified via in-app notice and/or email at least 15 days before taking effect, consistent with the notice approach in our Privacy Policy. Continued use of the Services after a change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms; if you do not agree with a change, your remedy is to stop using the Services and, where applicable, close your account. The current version is always available at nagriktv.com/terms, and the “Last Updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.

| Subscription | Any recurring or one-time paid plan offered through the Services, primarily in connection with Astrology Services. |
3. Eligibility & Age Requirements
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an Account, hold a paid Subscription, post or respond to a Classifieds listing, or create a Business Listing — these all involve financial or contractual capacity that minors cannot exercise under Indian law.
- You may browse News content without an Account, but a verified Account is required for any interactive or transactional feature.
- By creating an Account, you represent that you are at least 18 years old and that all registration information you provide is accurate, current, and complete.
- Our approach to users we identify as minors is described in Section 13 of our Privacy Policy — in short, we do not knowingly allow account creation by anyone under 18, and we delete such data promptly if we learn it was collected in error.
4. Account Registration & Security
4.1 Creating an Account
- An Account is required for commenting, subscribing to Astrology Services, posting Classifieds, creating a Business Listing, and reporting Civic Issues.
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration, including an OTP-verified mobile number.
- Providing false or misleading registration information, or impersonating another person or business, may result in immediate suspension or termination of your Account.
4.2 Your Responsibilities
- You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your Account, whether or not authorized by you.
- You must notify us immediately at support@nagriktv.com if you become aware of any unauthorized access to, or use of, your Account.
- We recommend enabling any available account security features (such as OTP-based login) — see Section 10 of our Privacy Policy for the security measures we take on our end.
4.3 Suspension & Termination by Us
- We may suspend or terminate your Account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated this Agreement, engaged in fraudulent or harmful conduct, or if required to do so by law.
- We may block IP addresses, device identifiers, or payment methods associated with suspected misuse, including fraudulent Classifieds or Business Listing activity.
- See Section 17 for what happens to your data and content after termination.
5. Description of Services
Nagrik is a hyperlocal platform bringing together five distinct services in one app. Each is subject to the general Terms in this Agreement plus the feature-specific terms in Section 6. Where these Terms discuss how we handle your data within each feature, that discussion is illustrative — our Privacy Policy is the authoritative source on data practices, and the two documents should be read together.
- News — hyperlocal, regional, and national news content, personalized by your language, district, and constituency.
- Astrology Services — personalized horoscope, kundli, compatibility matching, and AI-powered astrology chat, described further in Section 6.2.
- Civic Issues — a feature allowing you to report local civic problems (roads, water, sanitation, etc.) with photo evidence and location data, described further in Section 6.3.
- Business Listings — a directory allowing businesses to be discovered by nearby Users, described further in Section 6.4.
- Classifieds — a peer-to-peer marketplace for jobs, property, vehicles, services, and similar categories, described further in Section 6.5.
6. Feature-Specific Terms
6.1 News & Content Consumption
- News content is curated and, in part, aggregated from third-party sources; while we take reasonable editorial care, we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any news content, and you should not rely on it as the sole basis for any significant decision.
- Comments you post on News content are User Content and are governed by Sections 9 and 10 of this Agreement.
6.2 Astrology & Guidance Services
- Astrology Services are provided for entertainment and personal guidance purposes only. They are not, and must not be treated as, a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or psychological advice — a disclosure that also appears in-product and in Section 5.1 of our Privacy Policy.
- Readings and chat responses are generated using the birth details you provide, combined with AI-assisted interpretation via a third-party processing partner (see Section 6 of our Privacy Policy). We do not guarantee the accuracy of any prediction, interpretation, or compatibility result, and we are not liable for decisions made in reliance on Astrology Services content.
- Astrology Subscriptions are governed by Section 7 (Payments, Subscriptions & Billing) of this Agreement.
- You agree not to use Astrology Chat to submit content that seeks to extract harmful, medically prescriptive, or financially prescriptive advice framed as astrology guidance, or to abuse the feature in a way inconsistent with its stated entertainment/guidance purpose.
6.3 Civic Issue Reporting
- By submitting a Civic Issue report — including any photo, video, or location data — you represent that you have a lawful basis to submit that content, and you agree not to use this feature to harass, defame, or improperly target any identifiable individual.
- Civic Issue reports are provided to help surface local problems and, where a formal integration exists with a municipal or government authority, to help route reports toward resolution (see Section 5.2 of our Privacy Policy). We do not guarantee that any report will result in action by a third-party authority, and Nagrik is not responsible for the response time, action, or inaction of any government body.
- We may moderate or remove reports that violate this Agreement, but we do not independently verify the factual accuracy of every report before it becomes visible. You, as the submitting User, are responsible for the accuracy of what you report.
- You retain ownership of photos/videos you submit as part of a Civic Issue report, subject to the license you grant us in Section 9 to display, share (including with relevant authorities), and use that content in connection with operating this feature.
6.4 Business Listings
- If you create or claim a Business Listing, you represent that you are the owner or an authorized representative of that business, and that all information in the listing — name, address, category, hours, contact details — is accurate and kept up to date.
- We may request KYC or verification documentation (e.g. GSTIN, PAN, business registration proof) before activating or continuing to display a listing, consistent with Section 5.3 of our Privacy Policy, and we may suspend or remove listings we reasonably believe to be fraudulent, duplicate, or misleading.
- Nagrik provides the discovery platform only; we do not guarantee any specific volume of views, calls, or customers to a listed business, and we are not a party to any transaction between a User and a listed business.
- Any premium or paid listing features are governed by Section 7 (Payments, Subscriptions & Billing) and by the pricing and terms displayed at the time of purchase.
6.5 Classifieds Marketplace
- Classifieds is a peer-to-peer marketplace. Nagrik is an intermediary that facilitates discovery and communication between buyers and sellers — we are not a party to, and assume no responsibility for, any transaction, agreement, or dispute between Users arising from a Classifieds listing.
- You are solely responsible for the accuracy, legality, and quality of any listing you post, and for fulfilling any transaction you enter into with another User.
- You may not use Classifieds to list: stolen property; counterfeit goods; weapons, ammunition, or explosives; narcotics or controlled substances; live animals or wildlife products where prohibited by law; adult or sexual services; any item or service whose sale is prohibited or restricted under Indian law; or any listing intended to defraud another User.
- We may remove any listing, at our discretion and without prior notice, that we reasonably believe violates this Agreement or applicable law, and we may report suspected illegal listings to law enforcement.
- In-app chat between buyers and sellers may be scanned by automated tools to detect fraud and policy violations, as described in Section 5.4 of our Privacy Policy. We encourage Users to transact safely — verify listings independently, meet in safe public locations for in-person exchanges, and report suspicious activity using the in-app reporting tool.
7. Payments, Subscriptions & Billing
- Astrology Subscriptions, and any premium Business Listing features, are billed at the price and interval (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, annual) displayed to you at the time of purchase, in Indian Rupees inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.
- Where a Subscription includes automatic renewal (including via UPI Autopay or a similar recurring-payment mandate), it will renew automatically at the then-current price until you cancel, and you authorize us and our payment partner to charge your chosen payment method accordingly. You can review or cancel a recurring mandate at any time from Settings.
- You may cancel a Subscription at any time; cancellation stops future renewals but, unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase or required by law, does not entitle you to a refund for the current billing period already paid for.
- Refunds, where applicable, are governed by our Refund & Cancellation Policy, published separately and referenced in Section 10(a) of our Privacy Policy; that policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
- All payments are processed by an RBI-authorized payment aggregator. We do not store your full card details on our servers — see Section 9 of our Privacy Policy for the security measures in place.
- We may change Subscription pricing prospectively; where required by law or as a matter of fairness, we will provide advance notice before a price change applies to your next renewal, and you may cancel before that renewal if you do not accept the new price.
- Any premium Business Listing or advertising billing is subject to the specific commercial terms agreed with our Business Development team at the time of purchase, in addition to this Agreement.
8. Intellectual Property Rights
8.1 Our Ownership
- All Services content that is not User Content — including the Nagrik name, logo, app design, software, and original editorial content — is the exclusive property of Nagrik or its licensors, and is protected under applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
8.2 Permitted Use
- You may access and view Services content for your own personal, non-commercial use.
- You may share links to Services content via social media or messaging, with appropriate attribution to Nagrik.
8.3 Prohibited Use
- You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works from Services content (other than User Content you own) without our prior written permission.
- You may not remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice.
- You may not use automated tools — scrapers, bots, crawlers, or similar — to extract data from the Services, including Business Listing or Classifieds data, without our prior written permission.
9. User Content & License Grant
“User Content” includes anything you submit through the Services — comments, Classifieds listings, Business Listing details, Civic Issue reports and photos, ratings, reviews, and Astrology Chat questions.
- You retain ownership of your User Content. By submitting it, you represent that you own it or otherwise have the necessary rights to submit it, and that it does not infringe any third party's rights or violate applicable law.
- You grant Nagrik a worldwide, royalty-free, sub-licensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your User Content solely for the purposes of operating, promoting, and improving the Services — for example, displaying your Classifieds listing to other Users, showing your Civic Issue report on the public map, or sharing a civic report with a relevant municipal authority as described in Section 5.2 of our Privacy Policy.
- This license continues for as long as your content remains on the Services, and ends when you delete the content or your Account, except where retention is required by law, for fraud/dispute-investigation purposes, or in backup copies that are not readily accessible and are deleted in the ordinary course — consistent with the retention periods in Section 11 of our Privacy Policy.
- This is a narrower grant than a blanket “perpetual” license: it is tied to the operation of the Services, not to any unrelated future use of your content by Nagrik.
10. User Conduct & Prohibited Activities
When using the Services, you agree that you will not:
- Post illegal, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise harmful content.
- Harass, threaten, stalk, or impersonate any other person, business, or Nagrik representative.
- Distribute malware, spam, or phishing links, or otherwise attempt to compromise the security of the Services.
- Violate any person's privacy rights, including by posting another individual's personal information without their consent (doxxing) — this applies with particular force to photos submitted under Civic Issue Reporting that may incidentally capture identifiable third parties.
- Create a fraudulent Business Listing, post a fraudulent or misleading Classifieds listing, or submit a fabricated Civic Issue report.
- Attempt to circumvent any Subscription payment mechanism, or use stolen or unauthorized payment methods.
- Use Astrology Chat, comments, or any messaging feature to send content that would otherwise violate this Section if posted publicly.
- Use any automated means to access, scrape, or interact with the Services except through our published APIs, if any, and in accordance with their terms.
Violation of this Section may result in content removal, Account suspension or termination, and, where warranted, referral to law enforcement.
↑ Back to top11. Content Moderation & Enforcement
- We may, but are not obligated to, review User Content before or after it is published.
- We may remove or restrict access to any User Content, without prior notice, that we reasonably believe violates this Agreement or applicable law, including content flagged through our in-app reporting tools.
- We may suspend or terminate the Account of any User who repeatedly violates this Agreement.
- We will cooperate with law enforcement and regulatory authorities where legally required, including in response to a valid legal process.
- As an intermediary under the Information Technology Act, 2000, we act on actionable notice of unlawful content in accordance with applicable intermediary guidelines; see Section 19 for how to submit a complaint.
12. Third-Party Links, Services & Advertising
- The Services may contain links to third-party websites, or integrate third-party services such as maps, payment checkout pages, or social sharing tools, as described in Section 6 of our Privacy Policy.
- We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site or service.
- Some content or listings within the Services may be sponsored, promoted, or affiliate-linked; where required, we will identify such content as advertising or sponsored.
- Any transaction you enter into with a third party linked from our Services is solely between you and that third party, at your own risk.
13. Privacy & Data Protection
Our collection, use, and protection of your personal data — including the Sensitive Personal Data involved in Astrology Services (birth details), Civic Issue Reporting (location and photos), and Business Listings (KYC and payout details) — is governed by our Privacy Policy, available at nagriktv.com/privacy and incorporated into this Agreement by reference. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and the Privacy Policy specifically on data-handling matters, the Privacy Policy governs.

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT, EXCEPT WHERE SUCH DISCLAIMER IS PROHIBITED BY LAW.
We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure (see Section 10 of our Privacy Policy on the limits of any security commitment), that News content is complete or free of error, that Astrology Services will be accurate, or that any Business Listing or Classifieds content is truthful, safe, or of any particular quality.

- To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Nagrik, its directors, employees, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Services.
- Nagrik is not liable for the actions, content, products, or services of any third party, including other Users (in Classifieds or Business Listing transactions), listed businesses, or any government authority a Civic Issue report may be shared with.
- Nagrik is not liable for any decision made in reliance on Astrology Services content, or for the accuracy of any News content.
- To the extent Nagrik is found liable notwithstanding the foregoing, our aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Services will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in Subscription fees in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) INR 5,000.
- Nothing in this Agreement excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable Indian law, including certain protections available to consumers under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Nagrik and its directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your access to or use of the Services; (b) your User Content, including any Classifieds listing, Business Listing, or Civic Issue report you submit; (c) your violation of this Agreement; or (d) your violation of any third party's rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights. This obligation survives termination of your Account.

- You may stop using the Services and delete your Account at any time via Settings.
- We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services, with or without cause, and with or without notice, including for violation of this Agreement.
- Upon termination, your right to use the Services ceases immediately. Sections of this Agreement that by their nature should survive termination — including Intellectual Property Rights, the User Content license (to the extent described in Section 9), Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Dispute Resolution — will survive.
- What happens to your data after Account deletion is governed by the retention schedule in Section 11 of our Privacy Policy.
18. Dispute Resolution & Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of India.
If a dispute arises, we encourage you to first contact our Grievance Officer (Section 19) so we can attempt to resolve it directly — most issues are resolved faster this way than through any formal process.
If a dispute cannot be resolved through direct negotiation within 30 days, either party may refer it to arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, with a sole arbitrator mutually appointed, seated in [registered office city — to be confirmed], with proceedings conducted in English. This arbitration option is offered as a faster, private alternative to litigation — it does not replace and cannot override your statutory right as a consumer to instead approach the appropriate consumer forum under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, or to approach the courts described below for matters not subject to a valid arbitration agreement.
Subject to the above, the courts at [registered office city — to be confirmed], India shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from this Agreement.

20.1 Force Majeure
- Nagrik is not liable for any delay or failure to perform resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, war, civil unrest, internet or telecommunications failures, or government action.
20.2 Severability
- If any provision of this Agreement is found unenforceable, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
20.3 Assignment
- You may not assign or transfer your rights under this Agreement without our prior written consent. We may assign this Agreement in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to the notice obligations described in Section 6 of our Privacy Policy.
20.4 Waiver
- Our failure to enforce any provision of this Agreement is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
20.5 Notices
- We may provide notices to you via in-app notification, the email address on your Account, or SMS to your registered mobile number. Notices to us should be sent to the contact details in Section 19 or 21.
20.6 Entire Agreement
- This Agreement, together with our Privacy Policy and any feature-specific terms referenced herein (including our Refund & Cancellation Policy), constitutes the entire agreement between you and Nagrik regarding the Services, and supersedes any prior agreement on this subject.
